Mid April Cambodia celebrated Khmer New Year. A festive period lasting several days, that also heralds the rainy season and with it the touristic low season. Personally this is a milestone for us: we officially survived our first high season! And this also pretty well, considering the reviews we get on TripAdvisor.

Whoever thought that the stressful times were over once we open HAVEN, thought wrong. Including us.

HAVEN IS OPEN!

The last two months have been totally crazy and we learnt what its like to be stretched to one's limit. But it was totally worth it! HAVEN is a real jewel.

We are on the final spurt of setting up and preparing HAVEN's opening. It is a strength-sapping last lap that is exciting and terrifying at the same time. Yes, we are finally getting down to serious business. Soon the moment will be here, that we have been working for all this time.

This blog entry is dedicated to every one of you who supported us during the terrible floods in Cambodia. Thanks to your financial support and your encouraging words we could make quite some progress setting up HAVEN.

Sadly the international media doesn't report much about it, but since mid September Cambodia is suffering from the worst floods in over a decade.

While I'm writing these lines heavy rain is falling into the knee deep water surrounding our house. We are in our 4th flood and it seems like our feet will never be dry again.

By now most of you have heard of the terrible floods here in Cambodia. It is much worse than the last flood we had about two weeks ago. For now we want you to know that we are okay. But we will report about the flood and its extent in our next blog. 

This entry we want to dedicate to good news. Because these are the kind of news that give you hope and joy even in difficult times.

Last week in Siem Reap was wet. Very wet! In the night from the 10th to 11th September the Siem Reap River burst its banks and flooded the whole city.

We are delighted to announce that after waiting for 2 1/2 months we have now received the building permit for HAVEN! Now we can really get started with the construction and hope to be finished within the next 2 months.
